The Melbourne Market Authority (MMA) is exploring the development of a new public market concept and we are inviting feedback and expressions of interest.

If progressed, this initiative would establish a stand-alone public market with dedicated access on the northeast corner of the site. Importantly, this is not about opening the existing wholesale market to the public. Instead, it would be a purpose-built destination retail experience showcasing fresh produce and flowers sourced directly from the Melbourne Wholesale Market.

This concept represents an exciting opportunity to:

• Enhance the profile and image of the Melbourne Market.
• Inspire more people to discover and enjoy the quality produce grown, traded, and sold here.
• Create additional opportunities for our valued retailers, wholesalers, and growers.

We now invite expressions of interest (EOIs) from those who would like to be involved in this potential development.

Warehousing
We also acknowledge the strong and ongoing demand for standard warehousing on site. While an earlier EOI was released for warehousing in this northeast location, should the public market concept proceed, warehousing opportunities would instead be explored on other suitable land within the precinct.
