Forklifts and other vehicles operating in the Market must be registered with both VicRoads and the Melbourne Market Authority (MMA) to ensure they meet each organisation's safety standards. So this can be verified, all vehicles must display a current MMA registration plate, registration expiry sticker and VicRoads registration plate.
For detailed information on how to register, renew, transfer or dispose of a Market vehicle, download the MMA Approved Vehicle Registration, Renewal & Transfer User Guide. Please note that all vehicles must hold a current VicRoads registration before completing the MMA Vehicle Examination Checklist and registering with the MMA.
The Melbourne Market is home to a range of complementary businesses so market users can consolidate operations on-site. This includes six approved vehicle service providers, two LPG refuelling stations and a truck wash.
LPG North, operated by the MMA
LPG South, operated by the Fresh State
All businesses operating a forklift, buggy or electric vehicle on market land should be aware that:
Any new vehicle registrations, changes or transfers should first be completed with VicRoads before contacting the MMA.
The MMA must be advised in writing of any changes so billing records can be updated.
An LPG tag linked to an account is required to refuel on-site. Please contact the relevant operator (listed above) for enquries or to create an account.
Please direct any vehicle-related questions to Customer Service.
